Surge Protection Devices Citel VG Technology

One power surge is all it takes. Surge protection isn’t an optional extra; it’s part of doing the job properly.

Switchtec stocks Citel Surge Protection Devices with patented VG Technology, and the difference matters. A gas-filled spark gap (GSG) works alongside the standard MOV to deliver better protection, a longer working life, and zero follow current, which means no tripping of upstream protection devices.

Standard MOV-only devices deteriorate over time. VG Technology holds its performance and extends the working life of the unit significantly. Co-ordination is also simpler, as VG units can be used without additional SPDs.

The range available at G2:

• Type 1+2+3 combined: Iimp 25kA / Imax 100kA (mono-block, 1Ph+N and 3Ph+N)
• Type 1+2+3 combined: Iimp 12.5kA / Imax 50kA (plug-in module, 1Ph+N and 3Ph+N)
• Type 2+3 combined: In 20kA / Imax 50kA (plug-in module, 1Ph+N and 3Ph+N)
• Type 2+3 with integrated fuse: In 15kA / Imax 25kA (no separate fuse or MCB required)
• Compact
• Type 2+3: Imax 15kA and 40kA options (1 module 18mm)
• Single-phase and three-phase configurations throughout
• Suitable for TT, TN, TN-S, and TN-C-S systems

All units are 18th Edition and IEC/EN 61643-11 compliant. UKCA and CE approved. Visual status indicator and remote signal contact included as standard. Operating temperature -40°C to +85°C.

Not sure whether you need a Type 31 or Type 40? As a rule of thumb: if the earthing system at the installation is unknown, the Citel Type 31 is the safer choice – suitable for TN-S, TN-C-S, and TT systems. Type 40 covers TN-S and TN-C-S only. Give us a call if you’d like to talk it through.

Mini Standard Contactors and Standard Contactors

SCL mini and standard contactors from Switchtec are in stock at G2 and cover the range from small panel builds through to heavy-duty motor control.

Available from 6A to 630A with both DIN rail and base mount options, the range offers genuine flexibility across a wide spread of applications. AC and DC coil versions are available up to 690V, with coil voltages covering 12V, 24V, 48V, 110V, 240V, and 415V.
