An ambitious cost saving exercise to improve lighting luminosity and energy efficiency with an LED technology install to West Midlands timber merchants Knowles Timber.
A comprehensive lighting survey illustrated how the workforce operated within the unit, for how many hours per day and how many days per year. Based on accurate consumption figures and a demonstration testing process, energy efficient lighting recommendations were tailored.
The average annual return on investment sits at 18% with an annual carbon saving of almost 36,500 in KgC02e. A selection of fit for purpose LED lighting replaced over 200 halogen lamps, fluorescent tubes, recessed tubes and discharge fittings. The whole factory is now fitted with LED lighting making it one of the ‘greenest’ manufacturing facilities in Birmingham.
